Historian, data scientist and activist

Mr. Or Rafel-Kreuzer

Or Rafel-Kreuzer is a postdoctoral fellow in history at the Center for Digital Humanities at the Hebrew University and a principal data scientist at the Interdisciplinary Center for Data-Driven Research (CIDR) at the Hebrew University. He researches American political history using digital tools. His PhD, on the subject of Civil War memory in California, is currently under review. He holds an MA with honors in history from Tel Aviv University and a BA with honors in mathematics, computer science and computing from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has 17 years of experience in the high-tech industry as a software engineer, software and algorithm team leader, and data scientist at Semper Startups, as well as at Brightsource and Mobileye.

About two years ago, he and his father, Israel Kreuzer, launched the Kreuzer Project - an activist activity in which they harness the tools and knowledge they have accumulated in the business and academic worlds to combat centers of power in the Haredi sector that have gained their power through budgetary distortions and regulatory discrimination by the state. Within this framework, he expanded his research to also study Haredi society and its secrets through digital means,
