Prof. Hanna Lerner

Hanna Lerner is a professor of political science, government and international relations at Tel Aviv University. She heads the Hartuch Institute of Government. Her research deals with various aspects of the relationship between politics and law, especially the comparative study of constitution-writing, issues of religion and democracy, as well as issues of global governance and global justice, focusing on the question of responsibility for workers' rights in transnational supply chains. 


 Prof. Lerner holds a BA in Philosophy and History, and an MA in Philosophy (with honors) – both from Tel Aviv University. She completed her PhD in Political Science at Columbia University in New York. She has been a visiting scholar at Princeton University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and led an international research group on Constitutions and Religion at the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Bielefeld, Germany.

Before joining the Tel Aviv University faculty, she served as Deputy Director of the School of Educational Leadership at the Mandel Institute in Jerusalem. She previously edited news for Galei Tzahal and was the founding director of the news department of Radio Darom.
