Prof. Yuli Tamir

Yuli (Yael) Tamir is an Israeli professor of philosophy, politician, and educator. In 1989, she received a doctorate in political philosophy from Oxford University in England. Prof. Tamir is one of the founders of the "Peace Now" movement and was the chairwoman of the Association for Civil Rights. In 1999–2001, she served as Minister of Immigration in the government of Ehud Barak, and in 2006–2009, as Minister of Education in the government of Ehud Olmert. Between 2003–2010, she served as a member of the Knesset on behalf of the Labor Party, and during her term she was Deputy Speaker of the Knesset.
After retiring from the Knesset, Tamir returned to the academic world. From 2010 to 2020, she served as president of Shenkar College, and since October 2020, she has served as president of Beit Berl Academic College.
In addition to her political and academic activities, Prof. Tamir has published articles and books in the field of political philosophy, focusing, among other things, on issues of liberal nationalism and education.
